NEW WHITECHAPEL!

Here's something I've been so stoked for for a while now. Whitechapel are a band I consider to be a part of the top tier of Deathcore, and to go further I'd argue that Phil Bozeman has one of the best voices in metal. Anyhow, Whitechapel have been pretty busy with some extensive touring atop writing a follow-up to 2010's A New Era Of Corruption, which is probably my favorite deathcore album, regardless of the fact it's not typically the more favored album from these guys. Today however marks the official announcement of Whitechapel's upcoming self titled album, which came with the release of the first single!

New Halo Of Gunfire Studio Update!

Halo Of gunfire have had a pretty eventful two years after releasing their debut LP Conjuring The Damned, with line-up changes and what not delaying the writing process for the followup album, although 2 years isn't technically all that long for a follow up album when compared to most bands, it has felt like an eternity, so I'm glad they are getting closer to releasing this new beast. Anyhow, in this video you get a glimpse of the guys in studio, and some pretty awesome samples of new material. Check it out!

In Which I Forgot About Film Score Friday.

I'm going to blame this one on two things, It was finals week, and I totally blanked. Regardless I will have another Film Score Friday next week. My bad ya'll.

Stream The Entire Galaktikon Album!

If you like Dethklok, here's one you should check out, especially since it won't cost you a cent. Brendon Small's latest side project, Galaktikon, is set to release tomorrow (which is an odd release date, but it's earlier than Tuesday which is good in my books.) but if you follow this link you can stream it in full for free! Check it out!

Thanks to Technorati for posting!

Oceano Are Writing Again!

After a break up turned Hiatus, Oceano have come back, played a few shows, and now according to their Twitter they are back in writing mode. They had started writing apparently before they broke up, so I'm wondering if this is a fresh start or if they are picking up where they left off? We may never really know.

Decapitated Post Video For 'Homo Sum'!

I'm a pretty big fan of Decapitated's latest album Carnival Is Forever. So when I saw that there was a video I was pretty excited. The video is for the song 'Homo Sum' and it's pretty much a mash of a performance video and a lyric video. there's also a spelling error on the word learn, it's spelled 'lern'. Not sure if this will be fixed and re-uploaded or not but at the moment it's still in there. The song itself is great though so check it out!

Make Them Suffer Post 'Widower'!

Make Them Suffer posted the second single from their upcoming album Neverbloom, due out May 25th! The words I'm pretty excited don't really do any justice to how excited I actually am. These guys should have a pretty stellar debut.

Baroness Announce Details For Yellow & Green!

Keeping with the theme of Color named albums, Baroness have announced a dual album release called Yellow and Green. There's speculation that one of the albums might not be metal at all. But until we hear either new tracks or get more info none of us can be sure. I'm excited though and definitely interested to see how things pan out. I wouldn't mind one being full on metal and the other being maybe an acoustic album or something. We'll find out.

New The Acacia Strain Song!

So there's a new The Acacia Strain song floating around the internet. There's not too much news about it, but it's pretty awesome. The track is called "Servant In the Place Of Truth" and is from their still yet to be officially announced album coming sometime this year. Check out the song!

Check Out Switchblade Rosie's New Music Video!

I did a review recently for Switchblad Rosie's debut EP Nocturnal Guest, which is a pretty solid debut album. The band recently debuted their first music video for the title track. It's pretty dark and on the NSFW side of things, so there's that, but if your either feeling daring, or not at work, you should check it out!

The Chariot Announce 'One Wing'!

Josh Scogin announced recently in an interview that The Chariot have about wrapped up the writing process for their follow up to 2010's Long Live! The new album is set to be called One Wing and should be out around August some time.

Another Sneak Peak Into Born Of Osiris' New Stuff!

Born Of Osiris are wasting no time following up last years The Discovery, which is my favorite from them thus far and made my top 15 albums of last year. Anyhow, they posted a short video of more guitar stuff, and it's sounding pretty awesome so far!

Film Score Friday - Alberto Iglesias - Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

Once again two things have happened. Firstly, there aren't any scores I have access to this week for new films, or at least one's that piqued my interest. Second, I haven't seen this film, although I have been meaning too. The film is Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, directed by Tomas Alfredson, and it stars Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy, and Colin Firth.

A Really Good Fleshgod Apocalypse Cover.

Fleshgod Apocalypse is one of my favorite bands, and their album Agony is one of my all time favorite tech death albums ever. The final track, also the title track is a great piano only piece which happens to be a great ending to the album and this guy, by the username of MrKuzoff, nails it in this cover. Anyhow, here's the video:

On a more impressive note he taught himself this piece by ear. Really solid stuff!

And on a side note, I would love to see Francesco Ferrini make a full length piano album.

Buy Derelict's Perpetuation Now!

Montreal based technical death metal Derelict have decided to bump their new album Perpetuation out early online! The physical release is still set for April 20th, but you can head over to iTunes or Bandcamp and pick up a digital copy of the album now! It's well worth your money trust me! Check out my review here: http://blastbeatsandsilverscreens.blogspot.com/2012/03/derelict-perpetuations-formal-review.html It's one of my favorite albums so far this year!

New Allegaeon Track "Iconic Images"!

Colorado based Tech Death band Allegaeon's new album Formshifter is due out next month, but you can listen to the track "Iconic Images" by following this link: http://lambgoat.com/features/20/Allegaeon-Twelve-song-premiere. The song is pretty awesome, and only makes me more excited to hear this new album! The band seems to be continuing their sound established on Fragments Of Form And Function, which is a fantastic album, but this album so far appears to be tightening that sound and improving everything overall. I'm excited.

(Update: Got a Youtube video of it!)

Wretched - Son Of Perdition

Victory Records, much like Sumerian Records, are a label with an almost startling roster of bands under them. It's amazing to go from the likes of Jungle Rot, or Between The Buried And Me to the likes of The Royalty, and Silverstien. That's not an insult to any of those bands, it's just a bit a of a shock how wide a variety you can find under this label. On the heavier side of things lies Wretched, a band that seems to bend between a handful of metal sub-genres, but proclaims themselves as melodic death metal. Their latest outing Son Of Perdition, to me at least, sounds more like a blend of technical death metal with a splash of more melodic deathcore. (The album cover reminds me of a tech death album cover too.) However, labels don't really matter much, it's about about the quality of music right?

As I Lay Dying Enlist Bill Stevenson As Producer!

As I Lay dying have been writing new material for a little while now and have announced that they plan to enter the studio in the next few weeks with producer Bill Stevenson. Stevenson was the drummer for the bands Decendants and Black Flag and has established himself as a well known music producer, working with bands like NOFX, Rise Against, and Anti-Flag. However, I'm curious as to why they didn't go with a well known metal producer.

Metal Cat Is Metal.

This is one of my new favorite cat videos. Also happens to be a good song.

Film Score Friday! Michael Nyman - Man On Wire

Again this week there weren't any new films that particularly interested me score wise, so I picked an older film to showcase. I had to write a paper on the film 'Man On Wire' these past few days, and saw the film for the first time last week. If you haven't seen it I'd recommend giving it a watch, it's well worth your time.

Gary Ross Isn't Directing Catching Fire?

The Hunger Games is a great adaptation of the book, it's not perfect, but I personally believe they did a good job with it. However the departure of Gary Ross has left me worried about the sequels future. After all Gary Ross directed and helped write the script, so a good portion of why the Hunger Games did so well can definitely be attributed to him. He's leaving because of the time constraints to make the next film. It's already set to release in November 2013, which is definitely a short amount of time for a film, especially an adaptation.

Here's what Gary Ross had to say on his departure:

Norma Jean Penning A New Album!

Not a whole lot to say here, but it's still good news. Norma Jean are in writing mode to do a follow up to 2010's Meridional, which was great in my opinion. I'm looking forward to whatever these guys make!

Born Of Osiris Are Writing Again!

(Minus the guy in white in the back)

When Jason Richardson was fired from Born Of Osiris a few months back many fans, myself included to be honest, were a bit worried. Jason joined the group just before they put out The Discovery which was their best work to date, and a huge step up from their previous albums. Lee Mckinney however is trying to make it known Jason wasn't the only one int he band with the skills to shred. Lee posted two short videos of pre-production work for the follow up to last years album:

Check Out The New Galaktikon Track!

When I first heard about Galatikon my initial thought was 'Really? Fans are foaming at the mouth for Dethalbum III, but you make another band instead?' Then I gave the song On My Way a shot and boy was I surprised. Anyhow, Galaktikon proves that Brendon Small knows what he's doing. You can check out the new track 'Prophecy Of The Lazer Witch' here:

The Strain Keeps A Rolling?

The Acacia Strain are easily one of the best and most well known Hardcore bands today. Although their last album Wormwood got a lot of mixed reviews, it's probably my favorite release from these guys. Although Continent is right behind it. Anyhow, fans of the band will be interested in this tidbit:

Check Out My Burn Everything Review!

You're on the internet, just chilling right? Why not take a second and hop on over to Emurg and read my review of Burn Everything's last EP Last Run Through The Ruins? It's some solid mathcore/hardcore stuff. Hit up this link to check it out! http://emur.gd/belrt

New Fear Factory Teaser!

Fear Factory is a band I should know better. But if I'm being honest Mechanize was the first album I had heard from these guys. It's a good album but for some reason I never bothered to check out the rest of their stuff. Regardless of that though, they released a new teaser for a single from their upcoming album The Industrialist. It's seems solid from what I can tell, check it out for yourself!

Arbiter Will Silence!

So yesterday was Easter. You might have gone to church for one of the two times you'll be guilt tripped into going to this year. You probably had Dinner with your family, and maybe you went on an Easter egg hunt. I did all three, but the last one there was slightly different than normal. This year my Easter egg hunt ended with some delicious metal.

Brand New Arbiter Track Sunday!

Well this is probably the best news I've heard in a bit, but according to a new post on their facebook page, Arbiter is premiering a new track this Sunday! This will mark two good Sundays in a row for these guys, following their Never Gonna Give You Up cover!Check out the post:

Film Score Friday! Clint Mansell - Last Night

There's two things you should know about Clint Mansell. The man is far too underrated, and he in my opinion is one of the best modern composers. His score for Darren Aronofsky's The Fountain is perfect. The work he did in Moon  was great! so when I stumbled upon this small 7 track score I was really intrigued. I'd never heard of this film so I looked up the trailer.

Oceano Not Breaking Up!

(Update: they are writing again too!)

So it's been a topsy turvy time for both Oceano, and their fans. A couple months back they announced the departure of vocalist Adam Warren, and shortly after they had decided as a whole to disband after their last show at the upcoming New England Metal and Hardcore Festival. It seems though the few months off the band has had was enough rejuvenation for them, and the music itch came back. It looks like the band will be writing again soon and should have an album early next year!

Against Tolerance - Undefined

Shortly after getting a Twitter I was followed by a band called Against Tolerance who told me to check to their album. I did and I’m glad I made that choice. Hailing from Brazil, Against Tolerance crafted the album Undefined and released it back in mid-2011. It’s a thrashy progressive piece which takes influences from all over the place and dares you to call it anything but metal.
