Band Of The Week: Feared

I don't know where I'd be without Spotify. I constantly find myself discovering new bands that I can't believe I hadn't heard of up to this point. Feared caught my eye with a pretty sweet album cover, and kept my attention with awesome music to boot. Feared is what you might get if you blended Meshuggah's older thrashier material, with Gojira's ambient death metal sound with a healthy splash of groovy rhythm guitars. It's hard hitting and enthralling.

Band Of The Week: Elysian

Elysian are an Australian progressive metal band who fall somewhere between Periphery and Allegaeon. There's plenty to love on Wires Of Creation between the technically proficient writing/musicianship and the spaced out atmospheric parts of the album that really give it a signature feel.

Chosen Post Video For 'Instinct'!

Irish metal band Chosen have posted a live in the studio video for the song 'Instinct' off their debut album Resolution. This song is pretty awesome. I got the chance to review the album over at Emurg, and that should be posted int he coming days.

Top 15 Albums Of 2012!

Well 2012 came and went, and I must say that with the impressive year that was 2011, 2012 was equally if not more so better for metal. I found myself constantly saying this has been a hell of a year for 'insert genre here'. Metal bands must have been trying to write their best albums to accompany the Mayan end of the world. whatever the reason, 2012 was fantastic. Which only made this list harder to pick through. There were plenty of excellent albums I wish I could put on here, but nobody really wants to read a top 30 to 50 albums list anyhow unless it's representing a decade.

(Oh and before I get started, I did a top 5 EP's list if you care to read that first.)

So without further ado, here is what this writer personally believes were the best albums 2012 had to offer:

Meshuggah Posted A Video For 'Demiurge'!

If you by some strange event haven't heard Koloss yet, you're really missing out on some top tier music. Anyhow, Meshuggah have made a music video for their song 'Demiurge'. The video itself itsn't anything particularly new being that it's just video of the band playing live, but it's a nice way to see up close the band members playing on stage. Plus the on the mic shots are pretty cool.

Meshuggah 'Do Not Look Down'!

Meshuggah had a hand in crytipcally leaking a track recently, but this time around things were less leaked, and more officially posted to the internet. The new track called 'Do Not Look Down' is faster paced than the previous leak, and has a pretty solid solo about two minutes in. The riff, like most every meshuggah song is repetitive, but actually very catchy. It's a pretty solid song overall. I'm looking forward to Koloss. Anyhow, give the song a listen and see for yourself!

New Meshuggah Track!

So a new Meshuggah track has been leaked onto the interwebs. This track is from their upcoming album Koloss, which will undoubtedly be one of the biggest albums in the metalsphere this year.

Check it out: iamaleak by gregoriev_suckalotsky

The production on it is fantastic. This son gin particular is rather slow in tempo for these guys, but it's more than likely one of the slowest on the album.

Koloss is due out March 27th!
