Vader Post New Track 'Triumph Of Death'

Vader are getting set to release their 10th studio album soon, titled Tibi Et Igni, and today they've released a new track from the album titled 'Triumph Of Death'. The song is likely what you'll expect from Vader, an enjoyable track that fills out the things you like about death metal. It's real straight forward meat and potatoes death metal.

Band Of The Week: Feared

I don't know where I'd be without Spotify. I constantly find myself discovering new bands that I can't believe I hadn't heard of up to this point. Feared caught my eye with a pretty sweet album cover, and kept my attention with awesome music to boot. Feared is what you might get if you blended Meshuggah's older thrashier material, with Gojira's ambient death metal sound with a healthy splash of groovy rhythm guitars. It's hard hitting and enthralling.

The Kennedy Veil - Trinity Of Falsehood

Metal as seen by outsiders who don’t listen to the genre is a garbled mess of instruments being played a beyond comprehensible speed mashed together into what sounds and feels like a literal wall of noise. Not the wall of sound idea made popular by Phil Spector in the 60’s, but more of a wall of sound that’s crumbling down and burying you alive. Now as a metal head we generally scoff this stuff off and move on because we’re more trained to hear the subtleties and the talent packed into these walls of noise. There’s almost a challenge to it and it makes repeat listens that much more important and enjoyable.

Gutted Souls - Unconscious Automaton

We live in a world where achieving clean production and pitch perfect sounding guitars has never been easier and the focus on getting the guitar tone and mixing takes the forefront in music. It’s understandable though because when everyone’s music sounds perfectly clean it’s often times hard to listen to bands that don’t have great production. But then there are bands that come around and remind you that the writing and energy of the music should be the most important factor. Rio De Janeiro’s Gutted Souls are just the band to do so. Their EP Unconscious Automaton is a much needed blast of energy that packs a very raw and visceral sound.

Band Of The Week: Death Toll Rising

Death Toll Rising are a death metal outfit from Canada who've been around for about 10 years now but didn't start releasing material until 2008. Their latest release Infection Legacy is aptly named as the album is a rather infectious one. The band's blend of Death Metal and Thrash isn't the most innovative thing around but it's well done and the production on their albums is pretty much spotless.

Humanity's Last Breath - Self Titled

When the single ‘Animal’ released last year Humanity’s Last Breath found themselves with a plethora of both positive and negative feedback. ‘Animal’ garnered plenty of positive attention for its immense sound and excellent production quality which saw a rather good boost from the bands debut album Structures Collapse. The negative feedback came in with the comparisons to Vildhjarta who had gained tons of popularity from their release Masstaden. Some listeners just felt the band aligned themselves too closely to Vildhjarta’s sound.

Band Of The Week: Forsaken

Despite being an all too commonly used name (last.fm say these guys share this name with at least 8 other bands a few of which are also in the metal/hardcore genres) Hartford, Connecticut's Forsaken does stand out of the bunch. Hitting home somewhere between Whitechapel and Dweller, Forsaken have a nice thick sound with plenty of dark ambiance to make the EP really stay with you.

Revocation - Self Titled

Getting the best of both worlds is something people generally consider a good thing, and when it comes to Revocation is far and above true. Revocation’s blend of death metal and thrash metal is so incredibly well done and captures the best aspects of both those genres perfectly. While you can ponder the labels of the bands sounds for a long time while listening to their albums, one thing remains clear, these guys put out incredibly well written music and their new self-titled album only furthers that point.

Band Of The Week: As They Sleep

Things have been rather quiet in As They Sleep's camp lately. Their last release Dynasty came out in 2010, and there doesn't seem to be any info about them working on a new album although they released a cover of Billy Squire's song 'The Stroke'. I do hope this changes in the near future though as these guys have made two brilliant albums in their career so far.

Dischordia - Project 19

It’s been a solid amount of time since I have heard anything from Dischordia’s camp. The last thing I had heard from them was their excellent Creator, Destroyer EP back towards the end of 2011. That EP was a really strong 4 track outing and was one of the best EP’s I’d heard that year. It still holds up really well today. Now though Dischordia are here with a whole new beast. Project 19 is a 19 track album technically speaking but truthfully it is 10 tracks with 9 19 second silent tracks to make the album 19 tracks long.

Whitechapel Post New Tour Documentary!

Whitechapel, who are one of my favorite bands and made one of the best albums last year, have released a new tour documentary. The video gives some insight to life on the road and also confirms that the band is writing new material, which is awesome.

Jungle Rot Announce New Album!

That right there is the cover art for Jungle Rot's upcoming eighth studio album Terror Regime! There's no more information for it yet, save for a March 19th release date, but it's good to know we've got some good old school death metal to look forward to. Their last album Kill On Command was pretty great, and I got the chance to see them live recently which was awesome. So I'm definitely looking forward to this. Hopefully we get a single soon. Miseration Recording A New Album!

I just started listening to this band Miseration last night, which is a collaboration between members of other bands which I've never heard of, but the vocalist has been in Scar Symmetry, Solar Dawn and Torchbearer. Anyhow, the band has two solid albums out already and is now working on a third release, which is interestingly enough being recorded in multiple places all thanks to the magic of the internet!

Whitechapel Post New Song!

YES.

Go over to Whitechapel's facebook to hear 'Section 8'. It's heavy, dark, and angry. Everything Whitechapel is known for. It's got pretty sick guitars and drums too, and it adds some new elements that Whitechapel hasn't explored yet. Hopefully they are working on a new album because If this is a sign of whats to come of a new album will most definitely be fan-freaking-tastic. Whitechapel are kings pretty much.

Send Me Your Stuff!

I know there are a ton of bands out there trying to get a following and get their name heard. I know I don't have a huge following right now, but If you happen to come across this site and are in a band and would like me to do a formal review of your album, I would be happy to, and I'll give an honest opinion. I'm pretty open when it comes to music, so chances are I'll like it. Hit me up with a link to hear it and I'll get back to you about it.

New Vader Album 9/13

On the off chance you don't already know this, Vader has a new album coming out soon. I've been pretty stoked for this album for a while. It came out in Europe already but unfortunately us Americans have to wait until September 13th to get our faces melted. Necropolis was stunning, and I'm sure this album will not disappoint.
