The Hunger Games released a week ago along with a 'soundtrack' of songs inspired by The Hunger Games. However it was until this week that we got a taste of the music we actually heard in the film done by the very well known James Newton Howard. This time around I actually got a chance to see the movie, and I'm working on trying to get a review out for the movie itself.

To Speak Of Wolves Have A 'Stand Alone Complex.'
To Speak Of Wolves posted a new song from their upcoming album Find Your Worth, Come Home! The song is titled 'Stand Alone Complex' and features guest vocals from Micah Kinard the of Oh,Sleeper! The song is pretty awesome, definitely has the sound they established from the first album, but production seems to have gotten a bit tighter, which is always nice. Anyhow, I'll stop blabbing, check it out:

Dethklok Fan? Check out Galaktikon!
So I've been dying for a new Dethklok album for a while now, but recently it was announced that Brendan Smalls would be working on a new more high energy rock metal project, which had me a tad bit worried at first because I really love Dethklok, but after hearing this new track from Galaktikon I'm a lot less worried.

Mnemic Announce Mnemisis!
Mnemic had quite an eventful year last year, with the departure of three members, they are practically a new band now. And now they are set to release their fifth studio album entitled Mnemesis! At this time there isn't yet a release date, but being that it's done already I would expect no later than early summer. But we'll find out.
Film Score Friday! Detachment - The Newton Brothers
So I'm going to try and add more film stuff to the blog, since it's primarily metal. The problem I have is that I'm too cheap to see a movie every week, but I listen to plenty of music, thanks to spotify and the internet in general, so I'm going to try and feature a film score each week, I'll do my best to actually see the film, but I can't make any promises there.

The Ninja Turtles Are Now Aliens?
So it was recently revealed that Michael Bay would be working on a new entry into the Tennage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise. He also mentioned that he is effectively changing the origin story altogether. The turtles are now an alien race, which opens up doors for more than four turtles, and loads of other possibilities.
Miseration Recording A New Album!
I just started listening to this band Miseration last night, which is a collaboration between members of other bands which I've never heard of, but the vocalist has been in Scar Symmetry, Solar Dawn and Torchbearer. Anyhow, the band has two solid albums out already and is now working on a third release, which is interestingly enough being recorded in multiple places all thanks to the magic of the internet!

Becoming The Archetype Remix Album Coming
So remixes seem to be pretty hot recently, some good, many bad. Regardless that deosn't keep me from being interested in Becoming the Archetypes upcoming remix album Celestial Progression which as you can probably tell is a remix album for Celestial Completetion. You can head here to listen to two samples, one of which I dig, and the other may take some time to grow on me.

Derelict - Perpetuation
2011 was a fantastic year for metal and upon writing my year
end list I found myself thinking that 2012 has some really big shoes to fill.
However this year has already dropped some mammoth sized albums on us and is
proving itself to be just as good as last year.
Vying for my top 15 list this year is Montreal based Tech
Death band Derelict’s latest album Perpetuation, and by vying I mean
slaying it’s competition so far. This is the first album I’ve listened to this
year that I immediately felt would make my top albums list. The year is early,
but I have a good feeling about this one.
Anyhow let’s get on with the album.

New Jungle Rot Video!
Old School Death Metal outfit Jungle Rot made a video for the song 'Blood Ties' from last years awesome Kill On Command! The video has the band playing in a cramped basement, while a girl whose trapped by a crazy family tries to escape. It's a bit creepy, but in most respects, it's pretty safe for work.
Thrown To The Sun - Of Oceans And Raindrops
I'm not well versed on Turkish metal, but I had this Istanbul based Progressive Metal band suggested to me recently, and I'm really thankful for that because these guys are awesome. They go by Thrown To The Sun and their this is their debut album. It's titled Of Oceans And Raindrops, and this 51 minute beast was originally intended to be a short EP, before the writing process got a bit carried away. It was a very awesome change of plans if you ask me.

New God Forbid!
So it hasn't been the greatest year for bands with black frontmen, but that's not stopping God Forbid, who are set to release their follow up to 2009's Earthsblood. The new album is entitled Equilibrium and is set to release on March 26th. March has a ton of great releases it would seem.
Veil Of Maya - Eclipse
Chicago's Veil Of Maya are a band I've heard plenty about, constantly told myself to check out, but never really got around to actually do until about a month or so ago. They are a band at the forefront of Progressive Deathcore, who've made quite the name for themselves over the past few years, and have a loyal following. This album, will not change any of that. The thing is it doesn't do a whole lot to draw in new listeners.
