Bleeding Through - The Great Fire

Metalcore heavyweights Bleeding Through released their seventh album today entitled The Great Fire. The album is chock full of crushing metalcore that encroaches on the divide between metalcore and deathcore while making a pretty big return to their hardcore roots with a hint of black metal influence thrown in on top. This album is straight to the point and surprisingly short for a fourteen track album, primarily because most of the songs hover around the two minute mark.

Whitechapel Are In The Studio!

This is news I've been waiting to hear for months! Whitechapel are in the studio recording the follow-up to 2010's A New Era Of Corruption!

Here's the Facebook post:

Mnemic Are Heading Into The Studio Soon!

I'm a bit late on this, but I just happened to check up on Industrial metal band Mnemic's website and found a post saying that they  plan to enter the studio sometime in February! This would be to record a follow up to 2010's excellent Sons Of The System.

Here's the official statement:

Hour Of Penance Announce 'Sedition'!

Great news! Italian technical death metal band Hour Of Penance announced today information about their new album! It's called Sedition, and has a really awesome album cover as you can see. The album is supposed to release on March 27th in North America, oddly a few days before Europe and the UK get it. Which is good for me, but sucks for others. they are also going to tour the US for the first time ever, which might be why they're pushing it here first. Unfortunately none of the tour stops are near me though.

Lamb Of God - Resolution

Arguably the first big metal album dropped yesterday (Jan. 24th), that album is Resolution by long time heavy hitter Lamb Of God. I'll start this by answering two questions for you.

Is it better than Wrath? Yes it is.

Is it their best album? No it's not.

An Evening With Arbiter!

I got the chance to get on the phone with Connor and Josh from the Michigan based deathcore band Arbiter, who told me about their story, and some good details about their upcoming split album Ironclad/Machinations! Now, as I am a fan of giving people choices, so I took the time to write the entire 30 minute interview out for people to read, but you might not be fond of reading for long periods of time, or maybe you want to hear their voices, who knows the reason. The audio isn't fantastic, but it's pretty good. Anyhow, if you do choose to read the whole thing I'd recommend hopping on Spotify real quick (which is free!) or Bandcamp (also free!) and starting their previous album Colossus as it would be great background music while you read this interview!

Now with that out of the way shall we get this thing started?

As I Lay Dying Are Writing A New Full Length!

So I stumbled across a note on As I Lay Dying's facebook regarding some fans reactions to the remixes found on their Deca's ep. Which told me two things:

1. Some people are really stupid.
2. As I Lay Dying are writing again!

Hit the break to see the full statement from Tim:

Oh, Hey The Contortionist Are Writing New Material!

Not sure how I missed this, but it would appear that The Contortionist are in the process of writing their follow up to the excellent Exoplanet! There is a second post showing vocalist John Carpenter working on breaking down the concept for the album.

Hopefully they'll end up in the studio soon and hopefully we'll get some good updates.

Nine Inch Nails Is Coming Back!

It's been almost four years since we've had any new music from Nine Inch Nails. Trent Reznor put his band on hiatus and took a break from music to work on film scores, which the 34 track album Ghosts seemed to indicate he had a desire for and in which Reznor and partner Atticus Ross have done fantastically well.

Now though Reznor feels as though he needs to exercise his inner singer to prevent himself from 'atrophying'. Whatever his reason, I'm excited for it. Hopefully we'll have an album by the end of the year. Reznor also said that How To Destroy Angels, a band he formed with his wife, will release it's first album this year as well.

I love the film scores he's worked on, but I am glad to see him back in the musicians chair.

Impending Doom Made A Song 'For The Wicked'!

NEW IMPENDING DOOM SONG. Sorry I got a little excited there. So along with Veil Of Maya Impending Doom are unleashing a beast from their forthcoming album Baptized In Filth

Check it out on their bandpage on their facebook!

Veil Of Maya Swim 'Vicious Circles'!

Veil Of Maya have posted a new song from their forthcoming album Eclipse! The Song is called 'Vicious Circles'. It's pretty awesome. It's got an interesting synth intro and has a pretty melodic chorus mixed in with some good/less frequent chugging and and a short piano interlude.

Check it out!

Check Out What Roman From The Red Shore Is Up To!

So unfortunately last October we lost the great band that was The Red Shore. The bassist joined already well established hardcore band Deez Nuts, but shortly after the break up Roman joined a newer band called Boris The Blade. This happened a while back technically, but I hadn't been able to find any real big mention of it online. They are definitely worth checking out though. Head over to their facebook to hear one of the songs off their ep released in mid October last year.

Plundering The Depths Of Bandcamp! Covenants - World Of Augury

Here's to the first Bandcamp plunder this year! I spent about an hour pilfering through looking for something that sounded good and finally stumbled upon these guys' ep that sort of breaks my ep rule, but it's too good to pass up.

The album is called World Of Augury and it's by a technical metal band called Covenants. Covenants is currently unsigned, but they've toured with the likes of Volumes and Elitest, so they are getting some recognition pretty quickly, considering they aren't yet a year old. They seem to draw influence from a lot of different places, technical death metal, djent, and deathcore being pretty prevalent.

Anyhow, onto the ep right?

Veil Of Maya Annouce Eclipse With Album Trailer!

Progressive deathcore outfit Veil Of Maya announced that they were going to be releasing a new album about a week ago, but they just now released an album teaser trailer of sorts as you an see below. It's creepy, but awesome.

Seattle based metalcore band Demon Hunter have released a few details on their new album due out later this year. Among which we've learned that they have gained a new guitarist, Jeremiah Scott, who, like other guitarist Patrick Judge, is also a member of another christian metalcore band The Showdown.

As the title suggests, Oh, Sleeper have released a video for the explosive first track on their latest album Children Of Fire which ranked at number 3 on my top albums of 2011 list! Check it out, it's awesome!

Then go buy Children Of Fire if you haven't already!

Jason Richardson Fired From Born Of Osiris

For what appears to be relatively bad reasons, progressive deathcore band Born Of Osiris have fired Jason Richardson, one of the guitarists, for being too responsible it seems.

War Of Ages Are In The Studio!

Christian Metalcore band War Of Ages entered the studio last Tuesday to record their follow up to Eternal with producer Chris 'Zeuss' Harris, who has worked with the likes of The Acacia Strain, Whitechapel, Chimaira, Shadows Fall and many others. The previous two albums have been done with Tim Lambesis of As I Lay Dying at the helm, who is also proving himself to be a great producer. They've started discussions on a release date, but I would imagine it'll get a summer release.

Impending Doom Finished Their New Album!

Impending Doom announced the completion of their new album entitled Baptized In Filth! It's due out March 13 and was produced by Andreas Magnusson who produced The Black Dahlia Murder's Miasma among other things.

It's A Sad Sad Day. And You Can Cancel That Oceano Album.

Update: Apparently a representative at Earache is saying that Oceano is just going on Hiatus. Which is sort of contrary to the bands facebook status. I'll post more if it gets cleared up.

Update 2: Nevermind, I guess Oceano is broken up for sure.

Two sad things happened today. Howard Jones has left Killswitch Engage, which saddens me deeply. No one is particularly sure yet why he left the band, although there is plenty of speculation. I'm not sure if they've been looking for a replacement or not yet, seeing as they are supposed to have a new album this year. Howard will be missed, he had such a good voice.

Whitechapel Are Working On Their Next Album Too!

If you happened to stumble across Whitechapel's facebook recently you may have noticed this awesome tidbit of news:

Oh And Deeds Of Flesh Are Working On An Album!

Los Osos, California based Tech Death band Deeds Of Flesh are in the studio! They have been for a bit, but I just somehow forgot to mention it.
